Junior, Kids,Teen, and Starry Skies Camp
Normal temperatures can very drastically, with daytime temps in the 90’s and nighttime lows in the 40’s. It is best to plan and pack clothing for easy layering.
- 2 pairs STURDY shoes (tennis or walking—not flip flops or slippers)
- Water shoes (Only closed-toed shoes are allowed, even for the water. ie. Keens, water booties, old tennis shoes)
- Brush/comb
- Towel & washcloth (2)
- Deodorant
- Soap & shampoo
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Feminine hygiene products as needed
- Underwear
- Socks for the weeks
- Long pants
- Shorts
- T-shirts
- Pajamas

- Sunscreen (with SPF of at least 15)

- Please pack plenty of your own diabetes supplies
- Battery Pack/Portable Charger
- Junior and Kids Camp: Cell phone for dexcom users (only if they already have them)
- Teen Camp only: Prom/Dressy clothes for Hodia Prom (can be as simple or wild as you want! No extra purchases necessary)
Diabetes Supplies:
- Meter- all participants need a meter as back up in case of sensor failure
- Test Strips
- Lancet device
- Insulin
- Syringes or pen needles
- Alcohol swabs
- Extra batteries
- If on a pump, plenty of pump supplies, enough for a few extra site changes and extra batteries/charger
- If on a CGM, plenty of CGM supplies including enough for an extra site change and your receiver.
Please note that the only approved cell phone use at Hodia is for taking pictures and gathering CGM readings. Many campers have lost their cell phones at camp, so a receiver is preferred if possible.

Winter Camp

- Brush/comb
- Bathing suit
- Pool/bath towel
- Sleeping bag

- Helmet for skiing (if you own one, if not we have one you can borrow for the weekend)
- Skis or Snowboard (unless you’re renting equipment)
- Heavy coat for skiing
- Ski pants
- Long johns
- Gloves for skiing
- Knit Hat for skiing

- Long pants (no more than 2 pairs)
- Shorts (no more than 2 pairs)
- Warm pajamas

Shooting Stars Day Camp
- Sack lunch with carb counts
- Insulin (will only need short acting unless take basal insulin mid-day)
- Syringes or pen needles
- Alcohol swabs
- Meter
- Lancet
- Test strips
- Extra batteries (or make sure you put new batteries in pump or meter)
- Blood sugar log for several days prior to camp (1-2 weeks)
- Sun hat
- Sunscreen (parents please apply in the morning before coming and we’ll reapply at lunch and mid-afternoon)
- Sunglasses (if your child will wear them)
- Jacket (if needed for the mornings as w will be outside much of the day)
- Water bottle
- We ask that children wear the camp shirts that you will receive at registration everyday for easy identification
- Please be sure all your child’s gear is labeled with their name
Additional Items for Water Activity Days:

Buddy Camps
- CGM receiver or blood sugar test kit

Items NOT Allowed at Any Camp
The following items are absolutely NOT allowed at camp by any camper or volunteers. Your participation at Hodia means you agree to this. Possession of ANY of these is an immediate “send home” violation:
- Matches
- Lighters
- Fireworks/firecrackers
- Guns
- Knives
- Weapons
- Dangerous toys
- Weapon-like toys
- Pornographic material
- Tobacco in any form
- Alcohol/drugs
- Clothing that has offensive pictures or words
NOTE: All food and snacks are provided at camp. Please do not bring extra goodies.
