The volunteers at Hodia offers our campers a combination of formal and informal education.

Almost everyone at Hodia has diabetes, and we all learn from each other. Kids who have only been diagnosed for a few months give new insight to others who have had it for forty years and vice versa.

We spend some time on formal presentations, but there are non-stop informal discussions we call teachable moments.

Every imaginable topic is bantered about on the trail, in the car, at the pool, and at mealtime. Our formal sessions are short and sweet. We have several sessions dedicated to the psychological realities of diabetes and how they affect the camper and their families. Most of the topics come from events of the day at Hodia. We also do education in the form of games and activities.

We practice and teach the best and most current diabetes techniques to support our campers and volunteers to live long, healthy, productive lives.
